Are you tired of trying to figure it all out? What if I told you that it was possible to do a little bit of everything? Life is not just work or school or your hobby or any other one thing; it’s about balancing the multiple avenues needing your attention. It’s about working to have it all.
A life and style blog, Burke Does is more than just finding perfection in one thing. It is about overcoming debt while still balancing healthy eating, staying fit and even having a little fun along the way.
I am Emilie, the brains, the brawn, and the beauty behind Burke Does. These are the steps that I’ve taken to manage my finances, physicality, and professionalism. I hope you’ll join me on this adventure. You are multi-faceted; why would your life be any other way?
Let me help you gain control of your finances, live a healthy lifestyle, and pursue your career dreams!
I was once that college student in the crossroads of finding the right balance and wondering if it was attainable. Then in 2013 between sophomore and junior year, I lost 100 lbs and managed to keep it off, despite having an insatiable obsession with raw chocolate chip cookie dough.
I didn’t grow up in a family that budgeted well (read: at all) and had to learn the hard way. I remember sitting in my Baltimore, MD apartment with a budgeting worksheet from Pinterest and realizing my budget was for nearly twice the money I brought in each month. Something had to change. After a friend’s recommendation, I discovered Dave Ramsey’s “Total Money Makeover” and my life was changed.
Since implementing the baby steps of The Ramsey Plan, I have learned what works best for me and have implemented my own solution for reducing debt while seeking to have it all. I show you how I do this through my regular posts on my Debt Repayment Progress, my Monthly Net Worths, and Quarterly Spend Bans.
I stopped letting life happen to me and started making life happen!
I graduated from Princeton in 2015 and became a Baltimore-based Venture for America Fellow. In 2016, my partner Casey and I moved to Fort Bragg, NC, where he is currently stationed. I am now pursuing my MBA through Smartly.
Because of Casey’s Army career, I have come to expect that there will be moves and multiple stressors throughout our life together. Because of this, I work remotely full time and believe that you shouldn’t have to give up your career for the one you love.
I am Emilie Burke, and I didn’t allow anyone to put me in a box. You don’t have to either. I can help empower you to pursue your ground-breaking dreams and manage everything in the mix.
